'Under Canvas' comprised a series of rather bleak paintings made in the studio at number 5 Powell Road, Hackney, London, in the late 1980s and exhibited at the Girray Gallery, Camberwell, London, in the l990 in a show called 'Under Canvas'.

Other of the works were in the show ‘Mix’, at the Sommeratelier, Deutsche Messe AG, Hannover, Germany, [Residency And One Person Show 1990], selected by Paul Bonaventura, then curator at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, London. Swing was later shown at the Clara Maria Sels Gallery, Poststraße 3, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany
