The Winter Tree

The Winter Tree is one of a number of projects and artworks on and about neurology by Andrew Carnie, and includes Complex Brain Spreading Arbour and Magic Forest amongst others.

 

A selection of works from The Winter Tree were shown recently at the City Space, Winchester Discovery Centre, Winchester, Hampshire 6 July - 22 August 2020 .

The Winter Tree further develops Andrew's interest in current research around neurology and biology, exploring how the dendrite form in our bodies, the neurons in our brain  mirror dendrite forms in nature; the tree in the landscape. The dendritic pattern is the functional form of our brains that allows us to live and think and is also an important form in the environment. The ‘tree-like’ structure is found everywhere allowing distribution, collection and connection: and in our brains is ultimately core to how we think.
